Pelo Le Moea

R39.00
Pelo Le Moea and Nonyana Tse Ntle are the only two extant songs by Moerane written for Soprano and Alto. They are perfect little studies in two-part counterpoint, perhaps written for school use although we do not know exactly when. The lyrics of Pelo Le Moea are what Moerane calls ‘Setsoto’, implying that he drew from a traditional Lesotho source, and the song is a touching tribute to familial love. The style of the music is rather Schumannesque, the last 4 bars reminiscent of the opening of Waldscenen No. 6, ‘Herberge’ (Inn). In order to help choirs learn this song, a free mp3 of the lyrics spoken by Mpho Ndebele is downloadable when the song is purchased along with a rehearsal mp3 of the song at a slow tempo.
