Morija (1936 recording)

Mohapeloa published the score of Morija in 1935. Morija Mission was one of the first Christian (Evangelical Lutheran) missions in Lesotho, established by the Paris Evangelical Missionary Society (PEMS) in 1833, and it became a major regional centre for schools, teacher training, and publishing. The Morija Training College Male Choir recorded the song in December 1936 at the Gallo Studios, Johannesburg, a recording conducted by Bennie Mashologu. This historic track was reissued by ACE as Track 7 on the CD African Choral Legacy: Historic Recordings of Joshua Pulumo Mohapeloa in 2014.
