Kolliana (1936 recording)

Kolliana – it can be the name of a boy or girl – was published in 1935 as song No. 3 in Mohapeloa’s first songbook, Meloli le Lithallere tsa Afrika I. The Morija Training College Male Choir recorded the song in December 1936 at the Gallo Studios, Johannesburg, a recording conducted by Bennie Mashologu. This historic recording was reissued by ACE as Track 8 on the CD African Choral Legacy: Historic Recordings of Joshua Pulumo Mohapeloa in 2014.
