The very short three pieces for piano on b-a-c-h, composed in 1979 and based on the letters of J.S. Bach’s surname, B-flat-A-C-B-natural, are dedicated to Keith Burston. He was one of Reddy’s close friends and fellow-students at the Royal College of Music, who went on to become an established British composer (under the name Keith Burstein). This is one of several early works in which Reddy used Bach’s surname, and the score is a facsimile of the original handwritten manuscript.
