Tlholohelo Ea Ntlo Ea Molimo

‘Tlholohelo Ea Ntlo Ea Molimo’ was most likely composed for the choir Mohapeloa established in Morija in the 1960s, but the year 1960 is just an approximate date. This was called (in the English translation) the Voluntary Vocal Society, for at the foot of the one-page score, type-set on a type-writer, is written ‘E phatlalatitsoe ke Mokhatlo oa Baithaopi, Morija: Published by the Volunteers’ Society, Morija’. The score was found in Morija Museum and Archives: file J.P. Mohapeloa, and the text is based on Psalm 84. It is a glorious song of longing for the house of God, written by a man whose Christian faith upheld him his entire life, a faith reflected in so many of his songs; and it provides a fitting ending to his monumental Mohapeloa Critical Edition.
