Likano Tsa Bacha
R39.00
Mohapeloa completed ‘Likano Tsa Bacha’ in 1974 but only published it much later, in 1976, as song No. 2 of 25 in Meluluetsa ea Ntšetso-pele le Bosechaba Lesotho (Anthems for the Development of the Lesotho Nation). It continues the theme of song No. 1 ijn the 1976 collection, ‘Lesotho ‘M’a Basotho’ (Lesotho, Mother of the Basotho), in which the country’s neglect is deplored, by calling upon the youth of the country to pledge themselves to restoring the land to its rightful glory and to take responsibility for it. Mohapeloa dedicates the whole songbook, Meluluetsa, to the youth of Lesotho, while the underlying motif of development that runs throughout the collection must have been partly motivated by the United Nations development programme in Lesotho in the mid 1970s.
