Mohapeloa wrote Ha Bo E-sa in the early 1930s, publishing it in Morija in 1935 as song No. 13 of 32 in his first song collection, Meloli le Lithallere tsa Afrika. As a simple piece about early morning in rural Lesotho, and in comparison with other songs in Meloli 1, it has unusually detailed dynamics - mostly occurring in the first 20 bars, and several changes of tempo. It is written in one section without a repeat, which is also somewhat unusual for Mohapeloa.
