Mohapeloa wrote ‘Ha Bo E-sa’ in the early 1930s, publishing it in Morija in 1935 as song No. 13 of 32 in his first song collection, Meloli le Lithallere tsa Afrika. As a simple piece about early morning in rural Lesotho, and in comparison with other songs in Meloli 1, it has unusually detailed dynamics, mostly occurring in the first 20 bars, and several changes of tempo. It is written in one section without a repeat, which is also somewhat unusual for Mohapeloa.
