daniel’s dream
R0.00
In 2000 Reddy composed a solo keyboard suite in which the pieces are dedicated to his friends: friends’ suite: a touch of clazz I, followed in 2001 by its sequel, friends suite II: a touch of clazz II. He did not notate most of these pieces but played them at home and in concert. For daniel’s dream, however, the first of five pieces in friends suite I, there does exist a one-page score, which ACE has edited and which is shown on the right. The home recording below illustrates how the sequence of chords that forms the ‘basic tune’ of daniel’s dream was used – in a recording of more than 13 minutes it doesn’t appear until 3’40”.
The friend in question was the drummer Daniel Schlaeger, and he and Reddy performed the piece in 2000 in the venue K9 in Konstanz, Germany, demonstrating that even though it might appear to be for ‘solo piano’ it is, like any jazz standard, suitable for different types of performance.
