Originally titled four play and before that, resolutions, in the fast lane is one of the pieces Surendran Reddy wrote for his jazz ensemble Channel 18, which comprised Reddy on keyboard(s), Denny Lalouette on bass, Rob Watson on drums, and Bruce Cassidy on electronic valve instrument (EVI). All that survives by way of a score is a photocopy of the original handwritten manuscript of a 6-page lead-sheet for EVI and a 5-page lead-sheet for bass. These pages are reproduced here as a facsimile score, even though the copy is slightly feint in places.
A sample of the score is on the right and there are two audio files below, as well as a video performance of the work by three members of Channel 18 on New Year’s Eve 1991.
