Mohapeloa wrote many songs for Christian worship, like this one, suitable for use in church as a congregational hymn or choir anthem. The church that the Swiss-French missionaries established first entered Moshoeshoe’s kingdom in 1833 and is now called the Lesotho Evangelical Church. Mohapeloa was a staunch member, and conducted the church choir in Morija, the mission village in south-west Lesotho where he spent most of his life. Songs like Ha Ke Na Le Morena voice the strong bond between an African church and African society.
