dance of the rain (ballet)

Reddy produced this electronic ballet score dance of the rain, also known by its Afrikaans title, Dans van die Reën, to choreography by Christopher Kindo in 1987, when he was working for the Natal Performing Arts Council (NAPAC) Dance Company. It exists in the form of a tape and a handwritten manuscript of themes, comments and instructions. The newly published ACE score is a pdf facsimile of the manuscript, of which the first page is shown here, and the recording below is the original one that was realised in NAPAC’s electronic music studio. Reddy dedicated the ballet to his wife, the ballerina Linda Smit, ‘and to our future child’, because she was pregnant at the time with their daughter, whom they would name, Lîla.
