vrede vanaand (jannie du toit arr. reddy)
R0.00
This is an original solo arrangement-improvisation on Jannie du Toit’s song, ‘Vrede Vanaand’, which means ‘Peace Tonight’ in Afrikaans. As with the gravy train, Reddy’s title refers to post-apartheid South Africa. The piece is track 5 on Reddy’s second CD, Rough ‘n Reddy (The Ill-tempered Keyboard, Part II) which was released on Jannie du Toit’s label JNS Musiek, Johannesburg, in 1996. Reddy describes vrede vanaand as ‘an old call for peace by my dear friend and talented singer/ composer (and my boss!) Jannie du Toit which should now be completely redundant but regrettably is perhaps even more urgently needed as ever before’. There is no notated score, because Reddy recorded the music directly in the studio, but the track and the CD liner notes can be downloaded free at checkout. The other six tracks on the CD are get up and go!, the gravy train, ubunene ngamandla, namibia, sweet suite, and lîla’s song for winnie-the-pooh.
