In this rousing, humorous song by Moerane, the sun is the narrator, declaring himself king of all good things in the world, including plants, animals, clouds, heat, and even cold: the king of everything. The sun may control people’s lives, however, but not their opinions of the weather, which is parodied by the sun in the way in which it is often complained about in African communities: it is never just hot or cold, but always ‘too hot’ or ‘too cold’! People are just never satisfied with the weather. Moerane attributes the words to ‘Setsoto’ (Trad), and theSesotho spoken lyrics are available as a free download upon purchase of the score.
