This recording of Coronation Song is sung by the Quthing Evangelical Musical Society, Lesotho (conductor not specified) and was recorded by the SABC around 1980. This historic recording was reissued in 2014 by ACE as Track 20 on the CD African Choral Legacy: Historic Recordings of Joshua Pulumo Mohapeloa. It is one of few songs Mohapeloa wrote to English words, the score being originally published in 1937 to mark the coronation of George VI. Mohapeloa later changed the lyrics to honour Elizabeth II, crowned in 1953 – the version heard here – and in the 1970s he re-wrote it to a Sesotho text in the patriotic song, Lesotho Lefa La Rōna (Lesotho Our Heritage).
