Notes

The 'roamer' in the text of this song from 1947 is a large migrant bird, but the song is not only about the coming of Spring to Lesotho that the return of such birds signifies - bringing welcome warm weather and rain - but at a deeper level it is about the experience of Basotho troops who fought in north Africa during WWII and who, like the birds, longed for home.
